Construction has started on a 2,400-square-foot office on Oakleaf Office Lane off of Southern Avenue in East Memphis.

Kathy Fish, president of Fish and Associates, a personalized financial advice and financial planning services firm, decided to build the addition to the office park approaching the end of her lease at 699 Oakleaf Office Lane, Suite 105, in October.

The suite has fit her needs since 2003, but as the boutique firm has grown to include three associates with plans to hire one to two additional financial planners, Fish was running out of room.

The new office will be a 2,400-square-foot stand alone building at 633 Oakleaf Office Lane. Although small, the new office will double the financial planning firm’s current space, Fish said.

Fish said the building will be energy efficient with a modern design that includes lots of glass to showcase the firm’s art collection.

As part of an office park, eight of the 12 property owners of the Oakleaf Office Lane Association Inc. had to approve the office’s design. The office building was designed by Jeff Edwards, architect with Carlton Architecture.

Chris Woods Construction Co. Inc., the general contractor, filed a $475,000 building permit for the office March 25. Fish Investments LLC bought the 0.33-acre plot of land from Performa Entertainment LLC for $105,000 in 2008.
